Some couples know early. Savannah and Jay were inseparable from the start, and when it came time to marry, they wanted a spring wedding on the coast that felt like a getaway for everyone who came. Living on the Sunshine Coast, Osteria Weddings on the NSW Tweed Coast provided exactly that. Similar to destination wedding that felt like a mini holiday without having to get on a plane and deal with all the extra logistics or flying to a faraway destination.

Why they chose Osteria, a Kingscliff wedding venue on the Tweed Coast

Savannah and Jay were drawn to the setting as much as the spaces. “We loved the location on the northern NSW coastline, it was a beautiful landscape for our photos, and for guests, it was a holiday getaway with plenty of resort accommodation options.”

For couples comparing Kingscliff wedding venues, that mix is the appeal. The whole day sits in one place a short drive from the beach, so guests can turn the weekend into a coastal break. With resort accommodation nearby and everything from ceremony to reception on site, it also lands as one of the more budget friendly wedding venues in the region once travel and logistics are added up. Plus, Osteria couples get access to some amazing accommodation discounts at local hotel, including Halcyon House, Oaks Santai Retreat and Salt Property Management. Check out the rates and discount codes here.

What sealed it for Savannah and Jay was how the spaces flowed. “The enclosed garden for the ceremony and cocktail hour, a large reception space for the dinner party and the courtyard whisky bar under the fairy lights were all perfect.”

A first look at Osteria Weddings before the ceremony

Rather than wait for the walk down the aisle, Savannah and Jay chose to have their first look before the ceremony in frotn of our reception barn doors. “We did our first look outside the reception barn doors and exchanged gifts. It took the nerves away from walking down the aisle and was just for the two of us.”

They also brought their wedding party in for photos before the ceremony. It was a practical call with a payoff. With portraits done early, Savannah and Jay could join the cocktail hour and spend it with their guests instead of stepping away for the camera. A clever wedding planning hack we support!

A garden ceremony with live music on the northern NSW coast

The private garden set the scene for the ceremony, with live music from Danielle Guest carrying the moment. “The live music by Danielle Guest during the ceremony and cocktail hour was stunning and created a joyous environment.”

Cocktail hour in the private garden

When we asked Savannah and Jay for their favourite moment, the answer came quickly. “Celebrating with our guests after the ceremony, in the spring sunshine, drinking our favourite cocktails and eating incredible food.”

The ceremony garden works as one continuous space for the ceremony and the cocktail hour, so there is no shuffling guests between venues. Everyone spilled straight from the vows into drinks and canapés with the couple already among them. And due to their unique wedding hack (bridal party portraits before the ceremony) they didn’t miss out on any of the fun.

The courtyard whisky bar under the fairy lights

As the light dropped, the courtyard whisky bar came into its own under the fairy lights. It gave the evening a second setting and a quieter corner for guests to gather, a talking point that came up long after the day.

The vendors behind this Tweed Coast wedding

Savannah and Jay leaned on a team that clicked. “We were so impressed with our vendors; they exceeded our expectations and fit our wedding day vibe perfectly while working together seamlessly.”
